ADDITIONAL AREAS OF SPECIALTY Vestibular Rehabilitation |
| Assessment and treatment for individuals impacted by vestibular dysfunction | What are common symptoms of vestibular dysfunction? They include gaze and/or postural instability, as well as dizziness and/or overall disequilibrium. With vestibular dysfunction, these symptoms are most noticeable during or after quick head/body movements, or while the head and/or body are held in certain positions. | How does Olympic Physical Therapy assess and treat vestibular dysfunction? Your physical therapist will administer a variety of tests to determine the cause of your symptoms. From there, s/he will develop an exercise-based treatment program to help reduce them. Your individual program may include exercises that resolve dizziness, improve balance, enhance posture, increase eye-hand coordination and more. You will also receive a home exercise program to do on your own, and instruction on how to minimize the impact of your symptoms. | What is the goal? Our goal is to help you achieve your maximum level of function while reducing the frequency and severity of your symptoms. Specifically, your physical therapist may help you to increase the stability of your gaze and posture, decrease the incidence of falls, and improve your balance. |
